You have seen a challenge; you have to do your work yourself. If this fan is standing here and I don’t pack it, then it will stay here for the next 6 months. If my mother is not coming here, then I have to do it myself.
Cultural Differences
Moving on to the challenge, the first challenge you will face will be the cultural difference. You will have to catch a flight from your home country, and the 8-hour flight to the German airport is very difficult. Some changes may have taken place for the people: their complexion, age, language, colors, crafts, and weather. Many things may have changed, so it can be a challenge for them to adjust to the new environment and the new culture.
Just as some of them experience, the kind of routine their market has here is such that even when the market opens at 1:00 in the night, brothers go shopping, have food, and come back at 2:00 or 3:00. Here, it is easier. The market here closes at 8:00 and 9:00 in the evening. It starts at 9:30, but the market closes first and also closes on Sundays. Whatever food items you want to buy, you have to buy them in advance because Sunday is their close day. They have restricted their social life. If their employees come to their house, then it would be closed on the other side.
There are some rules regarding this time also. The way we will go to the hotel, if there are three of us, the German will come first. Whoever it is, you all become like this, then he will pay his bill and take food, and I don’t even ask on the side what do you want to eat or I give it to you in your money. There is no scene of the person giving the money; everything is split. The shopkeepers also expect that every person will pay differently.
People have gone; friends, when we meet, we have a nice dinner at 6:00 pm and go to sleep at 9:00 pm. Which means you will go out in the street at 9:00 pm in winter, then you will get a dog. Even if it is not visible in the waist, if they keep sleeping till 9:00, then there is some meaning or the other. They go to sleep very early and then wake up very early in the morning. Then it should be a challenge to mold their bread and their names.
Language Barrier
After this, the second challenge, which is an important challenge, is the language barrier. Now, when you come to a new country and you do not know the local language, German, that is the stage when you need German the most. You have opened your bank account, and you have to register, get the time of the apartment, get the SIM card, take the time, the SIM card packages. You will call the helpline, and she will speak in German from the front, and often the menu means their helpline is not in English.
If you connect in English, then it takes 8-10 minutes to get connected. I don’t know how much time it takes, so there is this language barrier. You have to face the Verizon person, and in the beginning, you have to face him more because he is in trouble for his time. All these things have to be reduced. You have to unblock your blog account; this is the role in the university; this is the software.
There is a lot of challenge in transportation as well because you come in the beginning, and their transportation system is completely changed. It takes at least 1.5-2 months for any person to learn that Abha’s stop does not come, where is the sky’s stop, where is the bus, which train will come. Each station of the train is so big; time is spent searching for the platform ahead.
If you install it, then what is its pack? What is its name? DB Navigator. Then it tells you about the platform and helps you easily in transportation, but you don’t know it in the beginning.
Homesickness and Food
Well, let’s move on to the third challenge. The third challenge is homesickness and food. As soon as we come new, a part of our entire life has been spent there in our home country with our family members and friends. The food we eat is all our own, but here, when we come home, everything changes. We move away from our family members, and many people become victims of homesickness.
It depends on who you are and how close you are to your family members. There is so much experience in staying away from home that it becomes homesickness. Many people come here and in the initial months feel that they should go back. This also happens, and at the same time, they do not even get the food.
There are different types of restaurants here; there are desi restaurants too, but they are expensive, and their food does not provide what is available in our country. You have to take care of your health also. You can eat food with your hands, and you have to take some extra. Just like this juice has become Vitamin D because here in winters, even the sun does not come out, so there is a deficiency of Vitamin D.
Weather Challenges
This can be challenging that your first winter will be unexpectedly cold because you do not train for true weather.
Transition to University
Another challenge that you can face is the transition in university. When you come here and start your study, you will get a new academic system here. It depends on whether you were working before going into student life.
There you will get money, you will go to the university, and you will take classes for free; you don’t even get money for glasses. Taking classes and adapting to a new academic system can also be a challenge.
It is important to manage your time. When to study, when to do the job, and then to prepare the food yourself. This time management can also be a challenge.
Job and Finance Management
Finally, if we talk about challenges, then you will also face challenges in managing job or finance. It depends on the city you are staying in. If you are staying in a big city, then you can often get answers, but if you go to small towns or cities, then the language barrier is a problem.
In small towns, getting a job and achieving it becomes a challenge. In big cities, you have to do it for a professional job; then that language barrier also comes into play. You have to learn that language as well.
You have to manage your finances here. How much to spend on traveling, how much to spend on food and rent, which apartment are you living in, sharing or renting. You have to manage all that too. This challenge is faced by international students who come here.
But there is nothing to be afraid of. When I was new to this place, I thought the whole system had changed, and I should go back. But then I found a quotation.
That quotation was very amazing: “What does not kill you makes you stronger.” I became a fan of that. Many good quotations come; you get to see new things, it changes your mind, your thinking, and also you get stronger, which gives you the confidence to handle new things and see new things from new aspects.
To deal with all of them, you should be mentally ready for it. That’s all for today, and if this blog has helped you a little, then you can help me. First, like this blog and second, subscribe to this channel. Aaj ke liye itna hi milte hain then in the next blog. Bye!
